Business Monkeys make triumphant return to Watertown!

Watertown will be invaded by a herd of comedians when they will host the Madison-based improv comedy troupe, Monkey Business Institute, on Friday, March 24 at 7:00 PM at the Watertown Players Theater, located in The Market, 210 S. Water St., Watertown. Tickets for the show are now on sale and are $12.00 in advance for $16.00 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at Watertown’s Piggly Wiggly supermarket or online at Brownpapertickets.com.

This is the third appearance of the group at the Watertown Players Theater and they have proven to be a very popular draw. The group performs each Saturday in the basement of the Glass Nickel Pizza Co.’s Madison east side location. There they perform an early show, with content focused on an audience of families, is followed by a late show, geared toward more traditional short form improv.

The Monkey Business Institute is made up of over thirty-five uniquely talented people. People who have spent years, or even decades, of their lives growing intimately aware of what makes great improv tick – and what makes audiences laugh.

Many of its members performed with Madison’s ComedySportz prior to 2002, and quite a few have years of professional stage/acting experience. Some of them are professional musicians, one is an award-winning stand-up comedian. Others are professional film-makers and voice-actors. A good number of the folks in our company are parents and one is a grand-parent (which, says Brad Knight, the director of the troupe assures us, makes them funnier). In short, many of Madison’s most creative and humorous people appear in the cast for any given performance – and most of them have worked together for over ten years. There is no other improv comedy company quite as experienced and talented as theirs, anywhere in the United States (Except perhaps Chicago, Los Angeles and New York). You can even find them on Wikipedia!

Seating is limited so it is suggested that in order not to miss these talented performers, patrons buy their tickets in advance.
In conjunction with the show, the Watertown Players is offering a special contest. Simply go to the Players Facebook page and look at the photos of Gabe Wollenberg and his pal W.P. Monkey. Each photo shows the duo in a different business (hint: the final three photos are all businesses located in one common location). Simply write down in correct order what businesses are being showcased, buy a ticket to see Monkey Business on March 24 and bring your answers along with you.

Winning entries will be drawn the night of the show. You MUST be present in order to win a prize. Three prizes will be awarded: First Prize will be a Watertown Players Flex Pass; Second Prize will be a $50.00 gift certificate for Walmart; and Third Prize will be two free tickets to the next Players show.
