About the Show

“Getting to Know Oklahoma” is an abridged take on the beloved Rodgers & Hammerstein musical and has been uniquely adapted for youth performers.  The action takes place in what will one day become Oklahoma, just after the turn of the century.  Local farmers and cowboys learn to share the land with each other, while cowboy heartthrob Curly and farm girl Laurey play out their love story.
In this adaptation for pre-high school students, the story and music have been edited for middle school performers, but all the elements that make this show a classic are still in place.
